A SPOTLIGHT ON CHUCK MCDOWELL: A CAREER IN TRANSPORTATION FACTORING
Gulf Coast Business Credit (GCBC)’s Chuck McDowell serves as the President of Transportation, a division of GCBC devoted to the transportation industry.
The GCBC transportation division offers over 30 years of dedicated service in providing capital to trucking companies nationwide. As a transportation factoring executive for 18 years, McDowell studied finance at LSU and received his MBA from The University of Michigan.
When asked about his career in transportation factoring, McDowell said, “Many clients come to GCBC as experts in specific areas but are lacking in business acumen. We help entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality by providing not only working capital but also business consultation. It is very rewarding to watch these entrepreneurs transition from experts in only one area to complete and successful business owners. Ironically, some of the most rewarding experiences are when clients call to say that they are now so successful they no longer need our services.”
During McDowell’s career his wife of 26 years, Kathy, has stood by his side and was primary in raising their three children- Melissa, Michael, and Sarah. Melissa, 21, is currently working on her PhD in Biomedical Studies at Cornell University. Michael, 19, is a freshman at LSU studying music and enjoying being part of the LSU Tiger Band. Sarah just turned 15 and is finishing her freshman year of high school.
McDowell believes GCBC provides employees with the right resources to help business owners become more successful in what they do. As a division of Gulf Coast Bank & Trust Co., GCBC is recognized as a leading provider of working capital finance throughout the United States with production offices located in Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee.
